Thank you and FLossEdBk Follow-up

Dear Flossed Conference Colleagues, This is a long-over-due note to kick off post-conference events.   I have been in the process of preparing something really special to say, but suffice it to say "thank you" to all presenters and attendees and, of course to our gracious hosts at KIS -- without whom we would have lost an appropriate, supportive and up-to-date venue.  Thank you to our gracious hosts at KIS, especially, Sally, Pook, Don, Go, Douglas and Linda.  Please also extend our thanks to the board members and the unseen members of your staff who made our time at KIS so comfortable and easy. You were kind enough to give this a go, and we hope you don't regret it! * * *  S U M M A R Y   o f  T H I S  M E S S A G E  * * * - Thank you to all participants and presenters (More below.) - Photos on the Web site (Thank you Douglas!) - First "FLossEd Users' Group Meeting Announcement (FUG)" Click here to read the announcement and sign up: (http://flossed.org/bkfug-1) Or click on the title of the announcement (on http://flossed.org). - Survey of past and future FLossEdBk Conference Attendees (http://flossed.org/survey) Take 5 - 10 minutes and contribute to the group's direction. - Calling on FLossEdBk Presenters Post summaries of your workshops; don't let that work get lost. (Log in help below, but you won't need it; it's easy.) - The Mailing List is Ready for Your Use mailto: flossed at iteachnet.org (fix it to look like an e-mail address should). Mailing List information Page: http://mail.iteachnet.org/mailman/listinfo/flossed http://flossed.org users can administer theri mailing list settings in their user areas. 1. Log-in 2. Go to "My Account" (http://flossed.org/user) - The Web site is Ready for Your Use =blog your news                 (http://flossed.org/blog) =add your news feeds or use ours        (http://flossed.org/newsfeeds) =add your links to FLossEd sites or Use ours:     (http://flossed.org/links) =join or add a Group about your favorite issue    (http://flossed.org/og) * * *  T h e  F L O S S E D  M a i l i n g  L i s t  * * * Now, if you're receiving this, you're on the flossed.org list (send to flossed at iteachnet.org) which uses Mailman and hooks into the Drupal forums on http://flossed.org. The simple way to start, though, is to send your messages to this list.  Send mail to flossed at iteachnet.org (remember: like an e-mail) (I have that server set up with a reliable mailman installation, so will make use of it.) * * * F L O S S E D  dot O R G  W e b  S i t e  * * * We'll begin to build disussions on the site that can branch outward as necessary and as useful.  (http://flossed.org) Some cool features have been added that would have been great (if only there had been time) for the conference such as twitter your posts (It's optional, thankfully), and e-mail to forum posting.  Blogging from your desktop is also possible.  I will do a quick demo of these features at the Bk FUG (Flossed User Group) meeting on the 20th. * * *  L o g g i n g  i n  * * * Most of you are already members. Log in here: http://flossed.org/user Register here: http://flossed.org/user/register If you've forgotten your password, have it mailed to you via this link: http://flossed.org/user/password * * *  F L O S S E D B K  P H O T O S  * * * On the site itself there are a lot of fun things starting with viewing photos from the conference (thanks to Doug for these!).  * * *  P R E S E N T E R S * * *  If you presented, please take twenty or thirty minutes to post a summary of your presentation and any files you're willing to share.  You can do it as a blog.  If you find there is sufficient interest in a group dedicated to your subject (you can find out via the mailing list), then feel free to create a group.  As a Web site member, you can do that.  For now, all posts will be general.  At the user's group meeting on the 20th, if there's interest, I can demonstrate how groups work. * * *  G R O U P S  * * * The next best thing will be to join or start sub groups for people interested in particular areas. * * *  P O S T  F L o s s E d B k  S U R V E Y  * * * Please fill out the follow-up survey.  It should take you a maximum of ten minutes and it will help get us going for the next, better effort. * * *  T H A N K  Y O U  * * * Thank you to all who participated.  You made the work worthwhile. Thank you to the FLossEd team (Ae, Ton, Michael, Sanjil, Yanyong, and Darunee and Mai.) Thank you to all who presented.  You did the essential work.
